To show filename extensions in Windows Vista and Windows 7:

  1. Click the Windows Start button, then select Computer.

  2. In the Windows Explorer window, click the Organize button, and then select Folder and search options.

  3. In the pop-up Folder Options window, click the View tab.

  4. Under Advanced settings, unmark the checkbox for Hide extensions for known file types.

  5. Click the Apply button, and then click the OK button.
