To show filename extensions in Windows XP:

  1. Click the Windows Start button, then select My Computer.

  2. In the My Computer window, click the Tools tab and select Folder Options.

  3. In the Folder Options window, click the View tab.

  4. Under Advanced settings, unmark the checkbox for Hide extensions for known file types.

  5. Click the Apply button, then click the OK button.

  6. Check if the filename extensions have appeared in your files.
